ISL-Lokalhistorie
ISL- Lokalhistorie is the Institute for the Local History of Sønderjylland, which was originally established in 1960 by the Historical Society of Sønderjylland and was responsible for the region's initial gathering of historical data.

The department is now the Museum Sønderjylland´s records and archives office with responsibility for the collection, preservation, and management of pictures, film, and sound.
Furthermore, the department administers a large collection of school literature and music books etc. from Sønderjylland. Today, the collection comprises approximately 1.5 million pictures, 1,200 audio tapes, 150 films, and about 400 running meters of books and more.

The picture collection contains pictures from all of Sønderjylland from as early as the 1840s through to the digital pictures of today, and among the treasures of the collection is a series of daguerreotypes from Schackenborg Castle.
